IN Qiyamul Lail's affairs, Rasulullah
Shalallaahu 'Alahi Wasallam shares the glory to his wives and sons. If in Qiyamul
Lail not stored great wisdom, Rasulullah not so in instilling discipline to
practice night life.
When the night was silent, the air outside
stung the bone, the Messenger of Allah awakened from sleep. Often he wakes his
wife to follow the practice of this noble deed. Their dutiful wives gladly
followed his guidance. Therefore, every night Rasulullah house always decorated
with Qiyamul Lail. Every night their homes are shrouded in glory.
History of Umm Salamah ra. Explained that one
night Rasulullah woke up and said:
Holy God almighty. What trials and sorrows
are revealed by night? Who woke the residents of the room. Surely it can be a
person who dressed in the world, but will be naked in the afterlife. (Narrated
by Bukhari, Ahmad, and at-Turmidzi).
In the hadith there is a phrase, 'Who woke up
the inhabitants of the room?' The idea was to wake the wives at night when
sleeping soundly. Waking is incomprehensible awakening from sleep alone, but
instead enjoins Lail's Qiyamul. So what is meant is that the husband wake up
his wives at night to be invited to ask Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
The Prophet also guided his daughters to
accustom the night. Narrated from Ali bin Abi Thalib ra. That the Messenger of
Allah had awakened Ali bin Abi Thalib ra. And Fatimah one night. The Messenger
of Allah asked them, "Do you not pray?" Ali replied with the excuse,
"O Messenger of Allah, if we are in the power of God. If He wants us to
wake up we must be awakened. "
The Prophet turned away when Ali said so. He
did not say anything, but turned his back on the daughter-in-law as she pounded
her thighs. Rasulullah, if his heart does not like to always hit his thighs. He
could not accept Ali's excuses that were considered lazy to do good deeds by
relying on destiny. Rasulullah then read verse:
And humans are the most controversial
creatures. (Al Kahf: 54).
The history is evidence that the Prophet was
very concerned about his family, especially to his daughter, Fatimah, and
son-in-law, Ali bin Abi Talib to beriyamul Lail. This is in accordance with the
opinion of Ibn Battal ra., "The hadith explains the virtues of the evening
prayer, and the family or relatives who fall asleep woke him up. "
Al Qurtubi said, "Had the Prophet not
known how great the virtues of prayer at night, it is impossible for him to
disturb his uncle's daughter and son, when man is sleeping soundly. This
attitude of the Prophet is solely for choosing the best for both (Fatimah and
Ali) to gain glory in the sight of Allah. The glory caused by Qiyamul Lail will
provide a great peace of heart and reward. "
Indeed the attitude of the Prophet in
teaching and familiarize his family in beriyamul Lail also rely on the word of
God:
And command your family to establish prayer
and be patient in doing it. (Thaha: 132).
Qiyamul Lail's habit has been entrenched for
the pious people of ancient times. Muslim women are known to be diligent at
night prayers. Because women as housewives should be able to decorate his house
with the blessing of Allah through Qiyamul Lail.
So do not think Qiyamul Lail is only
dominated by men. For example the information obtained from Urwah bin Zubair
ra, "One day (night) I met Aisha ra. Because then I want to convert to
Islam. I saw him working on and reading the verse "Famannallaahu alainaa
wa waqaanaa adzaabas samuum (So God grants us and keeps us from the punishment
of hell") (Ath Thur: 27).
Continue Urwah bin Zubair, "Aisha
repeated it with tears. I waited for him for a long time. When I felt tired of
waiting, I left her and went to the market for shopping. I am back Meet Aisha and she still does it that way,
repeating the verse in her prayer while weeping. "
Narrated in hadith from Anas ra. That the
Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,
"Gabriel alaihis salam has said to me," Refer to Hafsah, because he
is a fasting woman and loves to pray night. "(Narrated by Al Hakim).
This Hadith indicates that Hafsah is a woman
who is very obedient and fond of worship. He also likes to have Qiyamul Lail on
the nights he passes. To the extent that Gabriel suggested that the Messenger
of Allah (PBUH) refer to (marry) Hafsah.
Also described in one history that one day
the Messenger of Allah entered the mosque. He noticed an elongated rope tied
between two poles. The Messenger of Allah saw it with wonder. Then asked the
friends who happened to be there, "What is this strap?" The people
replied, "Belongs to Zainab bint Jahsy ra."
Messenger of Allah. Asked, "What does he
stretch out like that?" The people replied, "If he feels tired in
doing the prayer, then he hangs on the rope. "The Messenger of Allah then
told to untie the rope. "No, take off the rope. Shall be amongst you
prayers according to ability alone. If tired and unable to stand, can pray with
sitting. "(Narrated by Bukhari).
From these hadiths can be picked up the value
that women in the time of the Prophet really had a very high passion in
beriyamul Lail. To the extent that if not strong enough to stand up tired, still
praying by leaning on the stretched rope. On the other hand, we can also learn
from the wisdom of the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet did not want someone to
worship excessively, but according to his ability.
It is remarkable for their sincerity in their
allegiance and closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. It is done because it has
felt the pleasure in close to the side of God when the night has been silent.
In addition to the above mentioned, there are
also the names of Muslim women who are diligent in worship in the night, for
example Mu'adzah al-Adawwiyah ra. Explained in one history, that in the night
of his wedding, he and husband still take a night wake up to Qiyamul Lail. It
was done until dawn.
In his marriage, he was blessed with a son.
When his son was an adult, participated in jihad and martyrdom in the field of
war. Her husband also suffered the same fate. Since then, he has always liven
up his nights for God's allegiance. When praying and dhikr feels sleepy, he
says to himself, "O my soul, sleep long (death) is in front of you."
(In Shifah ash-Shafwah - Ibn Jauzi).
Another shalihah woman who should be
exemplified in encouraging the spirit of Qiyamul Lail is Hafsah bint Sirin ra.
In the narrative explained, in the house of the woman there is a chamber
(mushalla) used for prayer and bermunajat. Every part of the night he passed,
Hafsa almost always turned on the lights. But sometimes the lights have died so
the atmosphere inside the mushalla dark, just got the light from another room.
For thirty years, this woman is not out of
the mushalla except for the necessities and for a nap. If entering half the
night, he woke up and went straight into the place of prostration (mushalla) to
beriyamul Lail. He always reads half the Quran every night. During the day
fasting, except on two festivals and Tashriq day.
So did Abu Darda's wife named Hujaimah
al-Aushabiyyah. He is the wife of shalihah. Every night always do prayers and
followed by other women. They work on Qiyamul Lail together until their feet
are swollen from standing forever.
The name that is not so strange to our ears
is Rabi'ah Al-Adawiyah. This woman is known as a Sufi Muslim. Love to do
Qiyamul Lail. Even according to history, Rabi'ah always do all night prayers.
If it is dawn, he lies down in his prayer place to just let go of tiredness.
Then he got up from his bed and sat down, saying, "O my soul how long have
you slept? How long will you wake up? You almost fell asleep and did not wake
up to hear the shout of the resurrection day that shocked you. "
Meanwhile, in the narration is also
explained, Habibah al-Adawiyyah ra. If he is doing shalat isya ', then he
stands on the terrace of his house and tightens the thick clothes and cover the
head. He then said, "My God, the stars are gone and all eyes are asleep.
The kings have closed the door, and thy door remains open. People who Lovemaking
has been alone with her lover, while I be alone in front of you. "
Habibah al-Adawiyyah then continued to pray
and pray to his Lord until dawn. When the dawn is near, he asks himself,
"O God, the night is narrower and the day is getting lighter. My heart
wonders, did You accept my night so I feel good? Or do you reject my night so I
feel sad? For the sake of Your glory, this is my perseverance, Your persistence
is eternal and You did not set it for me. For the sake of Your glory, if You
rebuke me then I will not incline from your door. In my heart there is nothing
besides Your mercy and Your glory. "
He also said so, "O God, forgive me,
forgive my improper arrangement in my prayer."
Similarly Ajradah al-Ammiyah ra. If the night
is dark, he wears clothes and veils, then stands at his prayer (in the form of
a mihrab). Constantly perform prayers and recite verses of the Qur'an until
dawn. When the time is nearing dawn, he sits down and prays and prays to him
till the dawn actually rises.
In honor, he often pronounces, "Those
who have worshiped cut off the night of darkness for you, immediately
worshiping until dawn. They are vying for Your grace and the gift of Your
forgiveness. I am only begging You, not others, that You may make me one of the
first to rally in Your forgiveness, that You may lift me up to be so close to
You, that You may put me into the group of my servants, Your righteous servant.
You are the Most Noble One among the noble, the Most Merciful of the Merciful,
and the Most High among the Great, O Almighty Essence. "
